L.A. Austrian Team-up for Curtis Film
Los Angeles, March 19, 2014
Los Angeles - Austrian actor Christoph Dostal’s documentary film
"Dance Myself" about the life of legendary dancer Bob Curtis received
completion backing from the Austrian American Council West,
providing a key boost to finish the film in 2014.
The U.S.-born Bob Curtis lived the last 20 years of his life in Vienna,
and his work as a dancer, choreographer and ultimately permanent tutor
at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School helped build a diverse
international dance scene in Austria. After his death in 2009,
he was buried at the Zentralfriedhof in Simmering.
The cultural relevance to both Austria and the US,
symbolized by Bob Curtis’ life, was at the core of our decision
to get behind Christoph and to make our first-ever donation to a film project”
said AACW President Veronika Reinelt at the contract signing and
proceeds conferment, attended by Dostal and Austrian Consul General
Mag. Ulrike Ritzinger, AACW, Executive Vice President Lilliana Popov-Alexander
and Treasurer Fred R. Reinelt, and Attorney Dennis Fredricks
who had negotiated the agreement. The general support of AACW
enabled Dostal to complete production.
